Economic development in Cebu’s mountains

Agriculture and Livestock | Print

Residents of mountain villages of Cebu, Philippines, see few opportunities for economic development — and feel little hope in life. BGR partners are linking six communities with a training school that will train 100 villagers a year in agricultural techniques. A five-acre model farm will be developed using basic farm tools, seeds, rabbits, and chickens. This training will improve family farms and livelihood situations and help people find a reason for hope. Economic development and other kinds of change come slowly in areas where traditions are strong. Pray that villagers would be open and that partners will not lose heart.
